About Niceville High School Men's Soccer
NHS Men’s soccer has a winning tradition.
Over the past 12 years Niceville has claimed 9
district titles and been runner-up twice.
During the last
three seasons the soccer team has averaged 20 wins a season and won
three District 1-5A titles.
The 2006-2007 season was the best season in the
programs history.
Niceville made it to the final
four for the second time in school history by defeating
Leon
1-0 in the Region 1-5A championship game.
Niceville lost
to defending state champion
Palm
Harbor
in their first visit to the final four in twenty-four years and
ended the season with a
23-5-3
record.

A 1995
graduate of Niceville High
School, Coach Nelson is in his
seventh year coaching the Eagles varsity soccer team.
In his first year (2001-2002), he was named Daily
News Soccer Coach of the Year.
For 2003-2004 and 2004-2005 seasons, he was named
FACA Region 1-5A Coach of The Year and
North Florida’s All Star Coach.
Coach Nelson was once again named Daily News Soccer
Coach of the Year for the 2004-2005 and 2006-2007 seasons and has
led his team to three straight District 1-5A Championships.
His 2006-2007 team was also the Region 1-5A
Champions and made a Final Four appearance for the 2nd
time in school history (1st time in 24
years!).
As a Niceville Eagle Defender he scored 16 goals in his senior
year.
In College, he played for
University of
West Florida Men’s Soccer
Team where he was captain for 3 years and was named to the
All-Conference Team his Junior and Senior seasons.
He graduated from UWF with a Mathematics of
Education Degree.
