About Niceville High School Men's Soccer
NHS Men's soccer has a winning tradition. Over the
past 14 years Niceville has claimed 11 district titles and been
runner-up twice. During the last five
seasons the soccer team has averaged 21 wins a season and won
five straight District 1-5A titles. The 2006-2007 season saw
Niceville return to the Final Four for the second time in the
program’s history and the first time in 24 years. They returned to
the Final Four again in the 2008-2009 season by beating Fleming
Island in the Region 1-5A Championship. Niceville eventually lost to
Freedom High School in the State Semi-Finals and ended another great
season with a 24-2-3 record.

A 1995 graduate of Niceville High School, Coach Nelson is in his
ninth year coaching the Eagles varsity soccer team. In his first
year (2001-2002), he was named Daily News
Soccer Coach of the Year. For 2003-2004, 2004-2005, and
2007-2008 seasons he was named FACA District 1-5A Coach of The Year
and was North Florida's All Star Coach in 2004 and 2005. Coach
Nelson was once again named Daily News Soccer Coach of the Year for
the 2004-2005, 2006-2007, and 2008-2009 seasons and has led his team
to five straight District Championships. He is has twice led the
Eagles to the final four. His 2006-2007 team was the Region 1-5A
Champions and made a Final Four appearance for the 2nd time in
school history (1st time in 24 years!). His 2008-2009 team was
also the Region 1-5A Champions and their final four appearance was
the second appearance for the program in a three year period.
As a Niceville Eagle Defender
he scored 16 goals in his senior year. In College, he played
for University of West Florida Men's Soccer
Team where he was captain for 3 years and was named to the
All-Conference Team his Junior and Senior seasons. He
graduated from UWF with a Mathematics of Education Degree.
